Superyacht Captains’ Sentiment Survey

We invite captains to evaluate industry performance in a range of key sectors…

As we approach the 2019 cruising season, we also find ourselves welcoming an unprecedented level of engagement among the industry, with a collective commitment to best practice appearing on the horizon for everything from naval architecture to sustainability, and everything in between.

With the industry more engaged with the broader maritime community than ever before, at both a regulatory level (take European fiscal legislation and IMO emissions regulations as two prominent recent examples), it has never been more important that the superyacht shoreside economy listens to the views of those at the coalface – the operators.

With this in mind, The Superyacht Group has instigated a far-reaching research project that will focus on captains’ insight into a broad range of subjects relating to the industry’s delivery of services and systems, in the form of a sentiment survey, exclusively for captains and senior officers.

This is no mere dalliance into vagaries...

This is no mere dalliance into vagaries; these are esoteric questions on very specific issues, including the realities of the strain being placed on the insurance market, the effectiveness of ISM systems, the [im]practicality of superyacht design, the pressures hours of rest regulations place on safe manning, the growing threat of cyber-crime, and the provision of after-sales service by builders and OEMs alike.

These are pertinent topics that influence everything from superyacht construction, to the safety of those on board, and as the superyacht industry’s most respected source of market insight and information worldwide, we can ensure that by taking the survey, active superyacht captains will be communicating directly with the most respected shoreside stakeholders and will thus be making a positive impact on the futue of superyacht operation.

...all responses will be completely anonymous

The feedback from this survey will be published in this year’s edition of The Superyacht Captains Report, and all responses will be completely anonymous. This is a real opportunity to influence best practice moving forward, and as a token of gratitude for your honesty, we will award every captain who completes the survey a 12-month subscription to The Superyacht Report, while 10 captains will be selected at random to receive a full delegate pass to this year’s edition of The Superyacht Forum.
