Eidos is a good example of Gobbi’s typical broad use of windows in order to achieve seamlessness between the interior and exterior. There are various recesses in the superstructure that enable floor-to-ceiling panoramic views from the main deck salon, upper deck salon and owner’s suite.
At 57m she can accommodate 12 guests in six cabins. The owner’s suite features an enclosed 8sqm terrace located alongside the owner’s private studio and salon, benefitting from these floor-to-ceiling views the length of the room. Living and cabin areas area connected by wide passages with double sliding doors, guaranteeing privacy yet still allowing for open spaces full of natural light.
According to Gobbi, a lot of focus has been put into the exterior and interior lighting plans. “The exterior lighting scene sees a broad use of indirect lights, which are always hidden to the observer’s eye and never dazzling,” he says. “Long and narrow lines of light emphasise the yacht’s length and highlight its exterior design details.” He explains that the superstructure ‘gills’, placed aft of each deck, are illuminated by an indirect light around the perimetre. “Diffused indirect lights are also a constant feature of the interior areas,” he adds. “These are used to highlight the precious materials and to create different atmospheres. In fact, various scenarios may be chosen depending on the situation or the time of the day.”
The interior will be a balance between contemporary and more traditional luxury elements. Materials associated typically associated with luxury will sit alongside furniture and decorative pieces from exclusive Italian brands like Armani Casa. The main materials will be light ivory oak, which will contrast to furniture made out of dark wengé wood.
According to naval architect Giuseppe Arrabito, M57’s hull lines have been designed to allow the yacht to reach higher top speeds that usual for full displacement yacht while keeping fuel consumption down at any speed. “From naval architectural point of view these hull lines are dedicated to those owners who desire a superyacht that is able to comfortably and safely cross the Atlantic ocean,” he says. “But they are also owners who need a solid and stable steel hull able to reach top speeds that far exceed the 15 knots typical of full displacement steel hull yachts.”
“M57 Eidos distinguishes itself because it offers very wide spaces, cleverly embraced by well-proportioned exterior volumes, with the design of a really sporty yacht,” says Gobbi.
