Baccarat crystal

FRANCE, Baccarat. Last week, SuperyachtDesign was invited to the head office and factory of internationally renowned crystal manufacturer, Baccarat. The French specialist is behind some of the most exquisite crystalware produced today, and is preparing to celebrate its 250 anniversary next year.


SuperyachtDesign was invited behind the doors of its facilities located in the small town of Baccarat. Inside is a workforce totaling 1,100, which includes 22 master craftsmen who ensure the high quality expected is reached, while also imparting their extensive knowledge to the next generation. Among the pieces that were blown, shaped, cut, gilded and packaged during our visit were items from Baccarat's most recent light collection, presented at this year’s Maison & Objet exhibition.


“Some of the world’s most talented designers have designed Baccarat’s new lighting collection such as Fernando & Humberto Campana, Louise Campbell, Jean-Marc Gady, Jaime Hayon, Arik Levy, Philippe Nigro, and Philippe Starck,” explained press relations manager at Baccarat, Julien Guitard. “They were joined by the students of the Lausanne design school, ECAL, and took the limits of light into a magical new realm. With unexpected combinations, surprising structures, magical effects, each item celebrates the very best of craftsmanship. The intrinsic reflections, splendor and sparkle take this collection to new heights.”

The French producer has also revealed its plans to open new showrooms globally, including in Harrods, London this week.
