First look at the interior of the Columbus Sport Hybrid

In March SYD.com reported on the Palumbo shipyard signing a contract for the construction of a new 40-metre motoryacht, the Columbus Sport 130’ Hybrid. HotLab has now revealed two images that provide the first look at the interior concept of this project.

“The owner asked the studio to create a 'familiar' style, not so contemporary, where the wood is the main material,” Antonio Romano, on of the three founding partners and designers at HotLab, tells SYD. “He also asked to have a direct contact with the sea.” For Romano, the stand-out features will be the main living area with its full height windows and balcony, the master cabin and the sky lounge — all areas that have been designed to enhance the connection with the outside.

“We’re very pleased to work with Palumbo,” says Romano. “It is the first time that we have worked with them and we already have a very good working relationship with the yard. Our studio was chosen by the owner, but we hope that this could be a starting point for a future collaboration with the yard.”

The boat will be ready for the summer of 2013 in time for the Monaco Yacht Show. “Considering the hybrid technology and the nice exterior design, I'm sure that she will be one of the most appreciated yacht of the show,” says Romano.
