Marina at Marigot Bay under new management
The St Lucia marina is working on infrastructure improvements and changes to its service following acquisition of luxury hotel group, Capella Hotels and Resorts.…
The Marina at Marigot Bay is now undergoing a rebrand, at first in the fundamental aspects of service and infrastructure, before announcing a name to reflect new ownership:
“We are currently working on an upgrade to our already industry leading service standards to match those of the best of the Capella Hotel Group,” said Bob Hathaway, marina manager.
“We will also be working on major improvements to our crew facilities and formalized attractive arrangements for crew use of the hotel and marina facilities.”
The acquisition is not a new connection with the superyacht industry for Capella, which operates a private charter club in the Cabo San Lucas marina for its Mexico hotel guests. But it is the first marina to come under its banner.
The strategy for now however is to focus on the hotel plans, with Horst Schulze, Chairman and CEO of Capella Hotels and Resorts commenting: "We're pleased to add Discovery at Marigot Bay to our portfolio of award-winning hotels and resorts. We will begin instilling the Capella service philosophy into the property immediately.”
"Extensive renovations will begin shortly, which we expect to complete by mid next year when it will be branded Capella Marigot Bay. The resort and world class marina will remain fully operational during this time frame," he added.
Capella Hotels and Resorts, although only recently incorporated in 2007, has established a firm footing in the luxury marketplace. Forbes awarded the Singapore hotel the highest rating in its Travel Guide awards in 2013, its Mexico resort has reached the radar of Condé Nast Traveller magazine and it also made Robb Report’s recent top 100 hotels list.
