Northrop & Johnson appoints new brokers at Newport office

Northrop & Johnson has announced three new appointments to its brokerage team in the Newport office.

Patrick Danaher, Bob Leslie and JP Shipman will join the Northrop Newport office, bringing extensive and diverse industry experience to their roles.

Danaher, a yachting professional for nearly 30 years, has spent his whole life on the water. He has worked with and trained under top sailors including Walter Boudreau, Bill Ficker and AJ Anderson. He has skippered superyachts and participated in sailing regattas including the Bermuda Race, Swan World Cup and Sardina Cup. Danaher also has experience in both yacht management and yacht brokerage and is a licensed Captain, a certified marina manager and a licensed Florida yacht broker.

Bob Leslie entered the boat business as broker for Graves Yacht Yard in Marblehead, Massachusetts in 1971. In 1985 he bought the Massachusetts Northrop and Johnson office and has been with N&J ever since. Leslie was president of Yacht Architects and Brokers Association (now Yacht Brokers Association of America) and also served on the board of directors for six years. He is also an active alpine ski racer competing in four different leagues in the Mt. Washington valley and has competed in USSA Masters regional championships.

J.P. Shipman has experience with major refits to general maintenance and has a host of key contacts from around the world. Shipman is currently attending Harvard Business School and working as a lead cast member and producer for the movie serie, OnTheLine - Extreme Sailing featuring Home Alone's Scott Rosenfelt and 30 Rock's R. Vincent Smith.
