Jobs' lawyer confirms superyacht 'Venus' freed and operational

Speaking to SuperyachtNews.com Gérard Moussault, a lawyer representing the Jobs family, confirmed that their recently launched superyacht, 'Venus' had been released and had now departed on its sailing schedule.…

Gérard Moussault, partner at legal firm Bird & Bird and representative of the Jobs family, has confirmed to SuperyachtNews.com that the late Steve Jobs’ superyacht, Venus, has been released for use by his family.

The 78m Feadship build had been impounded in the port of Amsterdam in December 2012 following a dispute over the fee payable to the vessel’s designer, Philippe Starck. Starck was owed a percentage of the final cost of Venus, which the Jobs family had contested, came in lower than was originally estimated.

But Moussault explained that an agreement between the two parties had been reached, and Venus was now free for use by her owners. Although he was unable to confirm the exact figures involved in the settlement, Moussault was able to confirm that Venus was now operational, off the coast of Tenerife at the time of writing.

“She is presently sailing, and is in the control of her owner”, he said.
