UK, London. Italian fabric specialist Dedar has announced a new collection of textile wall coverings and lightweight fabrics to be officially presented at its showroom in Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour next week, as part of Focus/14 week.
"Dedar’s new collection of textile wallpapers creates a natural atmosphere and recalls the spirit of metal,” says press officer Quitterie Vallet. The collection, comprised of six new pieces, was inspired by Japanese tatami — a floor mat traditionally made from rice straw — with colour palettes ranging from natural tones of tobacco, tree bark and raffia, to a selection of metallic shades.
The Japanese influence is most noticeable in Striato, a fabric woven with an irregular horizontal striped effect, available in four colours. While Alabastro takes on a large abstract geometric design that recalls the veins and shading of semi-precious Alabaster stone. Finished with a laminated effect, Amoir Libre's surface is treated with a special metal leaf that brings life to the material, with the final effect accentuated according to the colour of the leaf applied.
Banano, as the name suggests, is a large banana tree pattern with a 119cm repeat and is a jacquard produced in raffia effect yarn and presented in two neutral shades. Where as Twist is a raffia-effect jacquard fabric enlivened by a textured plain geometric weave. The final piece to be presented is Rafia, which is made from yarns that are processed and woven to create the look of raffia matting and is available in 12 bright colours.
