Thraki Yacht Painting opens Istanbul office

Thraki Yacht Painting GmbH has announced the opening of a new office in Itsanbul, Turkey, under the name of Thraki Yat Sanayi Ltd STI. The company has revealed that the first project to have been contracted is Soraya's 46m newbuild superyacht, with work reportedly progressing well of fairing and painting the yacht. The Soraya 46 is a displacement motoryacht with steel hull and aluminium superstructure.



The main painting team on-site consists of highly qualified masters and topcoaters, who are well experienced on high volume projects in European shipyards. Thraki themselves state that they are confident in the strength and potential of the Turkish superyacht industry. Adding, that the Turkish yards are becoming increasingly well structured and the yachts they produce constructed to increasingly high standards. Aside from newbuild market, Turkey is also, according to Thraki, becoming increasingly competitive in the superyacht refit market, with labour costs and geographical position in the Mediterranean seen as distinct advantages.
 
Thraki further say that they aim to build a permanent team in Turkish territories, which will combine the expertise and experience of the Northern Europe' projects with the skillfull labour in Turkey.
