New BVI marina opens

Virgin Gorda, the second largest of the British Virgin Islands (BVIs) welcomes its fourth superyacht marina. The unveiling of the clubhouse at YCCS VG marina marks its official opening.…

A new yacht club and marina in the British Virgin Islands, Yacht Club Costa Smeralda Virgin Gorda (YCCS VG) has officially opened. BVI based developers, Victor International, joint with Yacht Club Costa Smeralda (YCCS) have announced the completion of the new clubhouse which completes the luxury marina.

The marina will be the fourth superyacht marina on Virgin Gorda, the second largest of the BVIs. It is also the biggest of the bunch, in terms of capacity, offering 38 berths for superyachts up to 100m. It also has an exceptionally deep draught of 9m.

YCCS VG will cater to the needs of the many visiting racing and sailing yachts, which the BVIs, billed by their tourist board as a ‘sailor’s paradise’ are a magnet for. Upcoming superyacht regattas in March and the Oyster regatta in April, will mean the marina could soon see an upsurge of berth requests. The BVIs are an ideal superyacht sailing ground with more than 60 islands, most reached by line-of-sight navigation, exquisite waters, secluded anchorages and pristine beaches.

Superyachts ahoy - the BVIs have a strong sailing scene

Riccardo Bonadeo, Commodore of the YCCS said:

“The Yacht Club Costa Smeralda is delighted to inaugurate our new clubhouse in Virgin Gorda together with Victor International.”

“With a prime location strategically positioned on a private peninsula on Virgin Gorda in the protected waters of the North Sound - one of the safest natural harbors in the Caribbean - YCCS VG is ideally situated to take full advantage of the region’s renowned sailing waters.”

YCCS Marina Virgin Gorda offers “exceptional” amenities and hospitality services including an external bar, pool, boutique, gym, wine bar and a large restaurant. The event lawn in front of the clubhouse hosts all on-shore functions related to major sailing events. YCCS VG is also linked to the new Oil Nut Bay community and Beach Club, as well as Biras Creek Resort, a Relais & Chateaux property.

YCCS Marina Virgin Gorda is currently operational, offering extensive on-board provisioning services as well as crew facilities and on-site customs clearance. The marina design includes a central T-shaped dock measuring 267m, which is accessible from both sides. It is well protected from prevailing winds, ocean swells and is free of surge: an ideal base for cruising the Virgin Islands and the great arc of the leeward and windward islands. Yacht owners and guests also have access to Biras Creek Resort facilities including fine dining, a spa and wellness center, beach and sports activities.
