YARE returns in 2018

YARE continues to build on seven years of experience and announces its strongest programme to date…

The Yachting Aftersales & Refit Experience (YARE) returns for its eight instalment in 2018. Organised by Navigo, the centre for innovation and development of the Tuscan nautical industry, YARE brings together an exclusive list of industry professionals for four days of networking, business and education.

In 2017, YARE was attended by 80 companies from the service industry that covered the full spectrum of refit service provision, from propulsion & engineering professionals to legal teams, and 110 captains from around the world with vessels of 24m and upwards that represented superyachts from 64 of the world’s most renowned shipyards. In total, more than 1500 business to consumer meetings were held over the course of the four days, not to mention the countless other encounters that were produced as a result of YARE’s networking schedule. See slider for some 2018 statistics.

Discontent to rest on the successes of previous years, 2018 promises to continue improving and building on the seven earlier iterations. This year’s event will follow the same format, beginning on Wednesday 18 April with the captain’s arrival and tours of Viareggio’s yachting district, highlighting the wealth of expertise and technical skill available in one of the world’s foremost yachting hubs. The tours will be followed by a welcome party in the evening.

On Thursday 19 April, YARE will play host to The Superyacht Captains Forum, organised and run by YARE’s international conference and media partner The Superyacht Group. For 2018, The Superyacht Captains Forum will be held for the first time in the paint shed of Lusben, the celebrated refit arm of Benetti. Unlike previous years, which operated on a key note and panel format across two rooms, this year’s Captains Forum will adopt a dynamic UN style round table discussion split between three workshops, all of which will cover the same topics relating to the refit, repair and aftersales market.

The candid conversations between superyacht captains, chief engineers, yacht managers, owner’s reps, surveyors, yards and lawyers will reflect the trends and issues taking place in the refit sector. Discussions will lead the industry to create a collaborative range of solutions applicable for the industry in order to produce a leading white paper publication on the ‘Perfect Refit Process’. Each workshop will run three sessions covering a range of topics from three different phases of refit and repair, namely the planning, shipyard and delivery phases. A networking gala dinner will be held in the evening.

Day three of the event will provide an opportunity for the businesses to meet their consumers in an informal environment. ‘B2C Meet the Captains’ is a fast and efficient way for more than 100 international captains and chief engineers to meet with the multitude of businesses that attend YARE. In the evening there will be an exclusive dinner for the captains in attendance.

Once the networking, business and education has been conducted, Saturday 21 April is ‘YARE Active’ an opportunity for delegates to enjoy a range of activities including a captains & companies football match, Versilia cycling with a world champion or some open-air target shooting.

Please note that the guest list for this event is limited to Captains, Yacht Managers and Chief Engineers operating on yachts 24m-plus
