The Breathe Easy Air Purifier, which was launched at this year’s FLIBS by Dometic Marine, reduces harmful bacteria, mould and odours by up to 100%.

Inhaled mould is often a health risk onboard yachts, where dampness is more common and cabin spaces can be hard to ventilate. The presence of harmful contaminants and mould can contribute to issues such as eye and respiratory tract irritation.

The air is cleansed through a Photocatalytic Nano-Mesh Technology with UV light, which continually purifies the air as it circulates. The purifier operates silently in the yacht’s air conditioning system and if retrofitted modifications will not need to be made to the existing air conditioning system.

The Breathe Easy Air Purifier is inserted through a section of the air conditioning duct that is removed, and then replaced once the purifier is installed.

“I recently visited a yacht that developed a serious mould problem that was making the crew sick,” said Frank Marciano, President of Dometic Marine. “The captain had all of the air conditioning ducts replaced and installed our in-duct Breathe Easy Air Purifier. Within days the yacht’s crew could actually perceive that they were breathing cleaner air.”

Environmental Diagnostics Laboratory, who tested the Breathe Easy Air Purifier’s effectiveness, confirmed that it was able to reduce bacteria, surface mould and volatile organic compounds by 100%.
