Regs4ships launches MARPOL and ECDIS training programme
Regs4ships is to stage a series of training courses, focusing on MARPOL and ECDIS and their relevance to yacht management. The courses will be held across the UK in Summer 2011.…
The courses will cover two areas of superyacht due diligence – MARPOL and ECDIS and will be staged over the two days. The aims of the courses are to ensure that all those who manage and inspect ships are aware of the requirements and have the confidence for informed decision-making. The courses will cover the latest legislation, strategies to limit risk and enable vessel managers to protect themselves and their companies.
Mick Caulkin, Training Director, said: “I have delivered audit, ISM and DPA training for several years. Throughout this period I have seen a consistent uncertainty about the requirements for MARPOL and ECDIS and especially the items that managers and inspectors should be looking for when they manage and inspect their ships. The course content is based on feedback from hundreds of delegates and aimed to fill knowledge gaps and provide confidence. For the ECDIS course I have enlisted the aid of Joe Collins, formerly Head of Navigation Safety at MCA and a UK delegate to IMO and IHO and an acknowledged expert on ECDIS”.
Course dates:
12 May in Copenhagen (MARPOL only)
21 and 22 June in Warsash (MARPOL then ECDIS)
4 and 5 July in London (MARPOL then ECDIS)
21 and 22 July in Warsash (MARPOL then ECDIS)
26 and 27 July in Aberdeen (ECDIS then MARPOL)
