Rupert Marine delivers 15.5m tender for Wally's 30.5m 'Indio'
Sweden-based Rupert Marine has delivered its 15.5m tender 'Indi Jones' for Wally's 30.5m sailing yacht 'Indio'. At half the size of its mothership, the tender will not be stored in a garage but will act as a 'chase boat'.…
The 15.5m tender, christened Indi Jones, is based on the builder’s Rupert 50 Wheel House, and has been customised to the desired specifications of the yacht’s owner. The tender comes equipped with an advanced navigation system, full air conditioning, water maker and ice maker, as well as other expected features of a tender of this class and size.
An integrated fuel transfer station is located on the aft platform of Indi Jones to assist the mothership. The work space on the aft deck can also be converted to a large sun bed or lounge area, with retractable sunshade.
With a speed range of 45 to 49 knots, the tender also features a new steering system, ROCCS from Rolls Royce/Kamewa, which, according to the manufacturer, “makes manoeuvring extremely easy and tight turns are comfortable with the trim tabs integrated in the steering.”
The 15.5m tender is, however, half the size of the 30.48m Indio, and as a result cannot be stored in the boat, but will act as a 'chase boat'. Founder of Rupert Marine Thomas Rönnberg highlighted this when he spoke exclusively to SuperyachtNews.com, declaring: “tenders get bigger and bigger; more and more yacht owners start to buy shadow boats to store the tenders.”
“I can definitely see a trend with ‘chase boats’ instead of a tender fitted in a garage,” Rönnberg contined. “We have delivered two chase boats this summer.”
The tender is now on her way to Newport, Rhode Island, where she will meet her mothership in time for the Newport Bucket Regatta in August of this year.
