Amels has announced the sale of the second Amels 242 in the Limited Editions range, just prior to the Monaco Yacht Show. This is the third superyacht built by Amels ever to exceed an LOA of 70m, confirming the yard’s status as an over 70m superyacht builder.

Much like the first Amels 242, the owner, who is not new to the market, has selected London based designer Andrew Winch to style the interior which will complement the bold exterior design drawn by Tim Heywood.

The owner was introduced to Amels and the project by Antioine Larricq of Fraser yachts, who will also represent the owner throughout the duration of the build.

In a statement to the press, Amels Managing Director Rob Luijendijk commented, “This yacht will have a very different character to the first AMELS 242, this is precisely why our Limited Editions concept has worked so well. The customisation, the very high level of quality and the proven platform, combined with faster delivery creates a very attractive proposition.”

Construction of the first Amels 242 is well underway and scheduled for delivery in early 2016.

LOA: 74m
Beam: 12.3m
Gross tonnage: 1,787 gt
Cruising range, 5,000 nm
Exterior designer: Tim Heywood
Interior Designer: Andrew Winch
