The Czech manufacturer and studio AMOS Design has recently launched a new range of interior wall panels constructed from DuPont Corian. Founded in 1990 by the architect Vladimír Ambroz, the company specialises in high quality interior design and contract furniture and is an authorised manufacturer of DuPont Corian. Shaped on CNC machines, each panel has a contemporary unbroken, linking motif and can be custom made to order for any project.

Available in over 100 colours, Corian is a bit of a super material. Composed of one-third acrylic and two-thirds natural minerals, it is exceedingly durable, attractive and versatile. Perfectly suited for use in the yachting industry, but still rather underused, Corian can be thermoformed, carved and routed, inlaid and have images embedded within the surface.

SYD will be looking at the subject of composites and the uses of Corian in the realm of superyacht design in greater detail in Q5, which is out at the beginning of January 2011. To subscribe to SuperyachtDesign, click here...
