First Swan 120 sold

Nautor’s Swan has announced that the build of the first Swan 120 is now underway…

During the Boot Dusseldorf boat show this week, Nautor’s Swan announced the sale of the first maxi yacht model in its new line. The Swan 120, which is now in the engineering stage, is one of the new models that the sailing yacht builder revealed at the 2018 Monaco Yacht Show.

Following the success of the performance-focused Swan 115 builds, Peter Naeyé, product line leader at Maxi Swan, explained that the Swan 120 model is intended to bring the focus back to comfort, meaning a more cruising-orientated yacht with a good level of performance. Shortly after the unveiling of the new model, Naeyé told SuperyachtNews.com that the yard had been overwhelmed by the number of enquiries received.

With naval architecture from house designer Germán Frers, the Swan 120 features a clean foredeck that leads aft to the coach roof of the raised saloon, which continues into an expansive but protected cockpit area. This area is designed to be completely free of lines, enabling those not engaged in the sailing to be able to relax while underway.

The stern section has been designed so that the transom can fold down at anchor to reveal a generous swim platform and spacious tender and toys garage. Once the tender is launched, the area can be used for sunbathing or dining. In addition to the stern platform swinging down, a section of the aft-deck may be opened up to convert into a large sun bed at deck level.

The hull and deck of the Swan 120 will be a full carbon fibre construction, using epoxy SPRINT pre-preg carbon fibre interior and exterior skins on a core of M-grade Corecell foam. The pre-preg system provides structural stiffness and rigidity at the lightest weight possible.
