Ahead of Düsseldorf BOOT, taking place in January 2019, British superyacht brand, Hawk Yachts has extended its exploration range yet again, with a new 68m concept. Named the Hawk Ranger 68, the new project falls under the same cost- and energy-saving remit that makes up Hawk Yachts’ philosophy and will be officially unveiled at Du¨sseldorf BOOT next year.

Designed by Lymington-based studio Laurent Giles, the new concept is the brand’s mid-sized project in the range, which starts at 48m with the Cape Hawk 690 up to the 103m Sea Hawk. Constructed out of steel and aluminium, the yacht has 670sqm of internal space, which has been devised to cater for a two-family charter experience.

A fully certified helideck has been positioned on the aft deck, which also doubles as a large sundeck or pool area. According to Hawk Yachts, the entire design is based on “appreciating the wonderous environment that will be available to the yacht,” which refers to its capacity for global exploration including polar regions. Featuring the brand’s rounded ‘Hawk Bow’, the concept has been designed to an unrestricted Ice Class classification and features an extensive range of up to 6,800 nautical miles.

Described as a ‘smart’ superyacht design, the yacht has been created to significantly reduce build and operational costs, through commercial engineering and construction, with a superyacht finish.

The project has been fully engineered by Laurent Giles and tank tests have been completed, which means, upon commission, a chosen facility could be cutting steel within three months with a proposed launch date in two-and-a-half years.
