ISA Yachts refreshes its fleet

The Ancona-based shipyard bolsters brand awareness by redesigning its line-up with the help of Enrico Gobbi…

Ever since Palumbo acquired ISA Yachts last summer, it has been working to consolidate its production capacity and brand identity. The latest development in this strategy is the decision to completely restyle its Sport, Classic and GT ranges in collaboration with Team for Design headed up by Enrico Gobbi.

“Since its foundation in 2001, ISA Yachts has been a champion of excellence in quality, materials, finishings, technology and design, to create luxury megayachts that feature a high level of personalisation and a recognisable ‘Made in Italy’ style,” says ISA Yachts CEO, Giuseppe Palumbo.

With 32 units built to date in the 36 to 66m range, ISA has long been associated with yachts that display sporty yet sophisticated styling coupled with high performance. Novel design motifs that have characterised the brand include the lateral arch that links the cockpit with the superstructure, flowing staircases from the aft deck up to the sundeck, expansive glazing and detailing inspired by automotive styling.

“The challenge we set the designers was to work on the yachts’ distinctive features and transform them into truly iconic elements as a way to strengthen the brand’s identity,” says general manager Francesco Carbone, who joined ISA Yachts from Admiral-Tecnomar earlier this year.

The new ISA Sport 120 (images 1 and 2) is an evolution of the previous 37m entry-level model, of which 11 have been built (the latest is to be launched in June). The side arches running from the main deck aft to the wheelhouse windshield are even more taut, while recesses in the hull bulwarks enhance the outboard view from the main salon and owner’s suite through the full-height glass windows. The raked spoiler adds a dynamic automotive element without obstructing views, and the now iconic stairway from main deck aft to the sundeck has been refined.

“We revisited the typical features that distinguish ISA Yachts with a modern key, taking inspiration from the pure shapes of nature and combining details that recall those of a luxury sportscar,” explains Enrico Gobbi.

The ISA Classic 50 (images 3 and 4) and the ISA GT 67 (images 5 and 6), continue much the same ‘family’ design motifs that inspired the Sport 120. With elegant yet crisply styled lines, the Classic 50 is the first in a new tri-deck series, whereas the GT 67 is the dynamic successor to the GT 66 and the award-winning M/Y Okto, but at one metre longer features a touch-and-go helipad on the foredeck.

As with all the ISA models, the interior design can be totally customised, but Team for Design has proposed its own contemporary solutions that draw on a range of precious wood veneers with natural, satin or gloss finishes, hand stitched leather, Italian fabrics and polished metallic accents.

“ISA Yachts is a relatively young company that from the outset has boldly expressed distinctive features that have been the driver behind its success,” says marketing and communication manager Daniela Spinelli. “We have worked extensively with the designers and naval architects, and listened carefully to the feedback received from our owners, to implement an effective strategy that we believe will contribute to further assert the brand’s positioning and awareness on international markets.”
