Logos launches 33.7m Catamaran, 'Quaranta'
Curvelle's catamaran built for a syndicate of owners by Logos has launched in Turkey.…
Her exterior styling is by Lila Lou, UK, naval architecture by Incat Crowther, whilst her composite engineering is from Gurit-High Modulus. Quaranta’s noise and vibration design is from Van Capellen and systems and outfit design-engineering from the in house team of Logos.
The yacht is unusual in that she has been designed with elderly or immobile owners and guests in mind.
“What we’ve found is that many yacht owners, whose parents are less mobile, still want to welcome them on board,” commented Curvelle’s founder, Luuk van Zanten.
The addition of electric powered berths and the ability of the aft platform to submerge someone 85cm to enable easy swimming are some of her mobility friendly features.
Quaranta is also one of a small number of yachts built for a syndicate ownership structure. Van Zanten is confident the business model makes financial sense for owners:
“Someone who has budget for a 65 foot Sunseeker, for the same budget, can buy a share from Curvelle and become an owner of 34m catamaran,” he said.
Three out of the seven shares have already been sold.
The flexible nature of the design, also makes her suitable for the several groups or parties that will be spending time on board. For example, Van Zanten pointed out that guest cabins can be made into one guest suite if couples are on board.
"Clients need to use it according to their needs, some people might have elderly on board, the next might have young people, the next one, the owner and wife and couples. She is the first motoryacht specifically designed for the purpose."
Quaranta has six guest cabins at main deck, which can be converted to three large suites. Crew accommodation is on the lower deck, with three cabins for six. Her interior also accommodates a large pilothouse, combined saloon and dining area, professional galley and laundry. Exterior decks offer large seating groups and sunbathing on the forward deck, upper deck and fly bridge.
She is powered by twin Caterpillar engines to deliver a maximum speed of 25 knots, cruising speed of 22 and economical cruising speed of 12 knots.
Quaranta is built to RINA charter class rules and MCA for unrestricted service and due to be delivered shortly where she will join major boat shows in Europe and USA.
