Ocean-inspired Glass

A look at the latest glass countertop from ThinkGlass, which was launched at the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show 2011 in Las Vegas and was inspired by the ocean...…

Canadian glass specialist ThinkGlass has sent SuperyachtDesign a picture of their latest glass countertop, which was launched at the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show 2011 in Las Vegas. The stunning four-inch glass countertop has been designed to look like a luminescent ocean and actually glows from within by using powerful LED lights embedded inside the glass. The countertop is available in a variety of light colours and it is even possible to incorporate a ‘light show’ with special effects such as flashing and fading lights to create an ambiance that can be controlled by remote control.

ThinkGlass is a leader in the thermoforming industry, having pioneering a versatile technique that allows the creation of new or repetitive textures at a very low moulding cost. This process allows the creation of glass slabs without thickness constraints opening the door to all kinds of design possibilities, such as the one pictured, that far exceed anything that can be accomplished with stone, granite or marble.
