Rubelli Casa launched

Italian fabric house Rubelli has used Milan Design Week 2015 to launch its first furniture collection, Rubelli Casa. The collection of upholstered furniture and accessories has been designed by Milanese architect Luca Scacchetti, a designer who since founding his own studio in 1978 has turned his hand to multiple areas of design, including building and interior architecture, town planning, product and furniture design.

The Rubelli Casa collection attempts to capture the characteristics of both Venice and Milan: the flamboyant, ‘carnivalesque’ energy of Venice is set against the subtlety and logic of Milan. With around forty pieces, including upholstered furniture, chairs and tables, Scacchetti describes the collection as “suspended between the modern and the traditional”, words that could be used to describe his design style in general. As someone who has always  toed the line between conservative and avante garde, Scacchetti has instilled his self-proclaimed ‘Milan style’ into the pieces, which embrace both “decorative radicalism and bold decorativism”, tracing the history of modern furniture from a unique standpoint.


From wenge wood to rosewood via cane and leather, the collection uses a diverse range of materials and multiple finishes throughout, with the hundreds of fabrics within the Rubelli Group’s four brand-portfolio meaning that each piece is available in thousands of versions and therefore fitting for any interior setting.

“This is more than just a collection of furniture,” says Scacchetti. “It is a gallery of characters, a series of family portraits, where each character represents themselves individually but is still obviously part of the same family.”
