Sanlorenzo announces state-of-the-art collaboration

The Italian shipyard becomes Institutional Patron of the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice…

Italian shipyard, Sanlorenzo, has revealed a long-term collaboration with the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice, enhancing their portfolio of projects that both add to and champion the art world.

Further to their partnership with BMW to create a series of installations that will be on display during various international events, and the ongoing collaboration with Art Basel, the shipyard will now support one of the most prestigious international art institutions in the world.

The Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice is part of a wider network that includes the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York and the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao. These are some of the most valuable museums of modern and contemporary art that exist, and Sanlorenzo has now become the Institutional Patron of the Venice collection, at the highest level of partnership within the corporate world.

The support of culture and the arts is a fundamental role for modern businesses, and one that is often overlooked. Donald Trump’s recent threats towards the cultural sites of one country only prove the power that museums and buildings of historical interest hold. It is therefore refreshing to see one industry supporting another, to preserve and promote the arts and the impact they have on contemporary design - in this case, superyacht design. Sanlorenzo now connects its passion for building yachts and its focus on art directly through those that work for the shipyard, providing unlimited access to the works of art on display to all its employees, encouraging aesthetic education in order to inspire new designs and unique creations by the brand.

“We are pleased to announce our intention to reinforce this relationship, supporting the Peggy Guggenheim Collection and the vision of its famous founder" - Massimo Perotti, Executive Chairman - Sanlorenzo

“The pursuit of a bond with the art world has been a natural step for Sanlorenzo, a company always open to new ambits and new languages,” said Massimo Perotti, Executive Chairman of Sanlorenzo. “We are pleased to announce our intention to reinforce this relationship, supporting the Peggy Guggenheim Collection and the vision of its famous founder. This museum plays a leading role on the international art scene, with a constantly growing international audience,” he continued.

The first exhibition supported by Sanlorenzo as Institutional Patron of the Peggy Guggenheim Collection will be “Migrating Objects: Art from Africa, Oceania and the Americas in the Peggy Guggenheim Collection,” open to the public from 15 February - 14 June 2020. The show examines a crucial though little-known phase in the career of the patron and collector Peggy Guggenheim, during which she had a keen interest in the arts of African, Oceania and the Americas.
