British designer Peter Harvey, whose Nautile chair was feature in Q7, has revealed his latest project, the Split-Box media console...…

In Q7, SYD chose British designer Peter Harvey’s Nautile chair as one of the top six products from Salone de Mobile 2011. In November we also reported on his range of chairs called Mon Petit Coeur with Italian furniture brand la Cividina. Harvey has now revealed his latest design, a media console that combines his love sculpture and modern materials.

“The Split-Box media console makes technology work for you, when you need it,” says Harvey. It has a contemporary minimal design on the outside and splits to reveal the hidden AV equipment inside.

The Split-Box is hand crafted in Corian as standard but according to Harvey, as each client is unique and the concept is so versatile, it can be entirely customised in superior materials for the home and commercial environment, from hotels to marine projects, in solid wood veneers to carbon fibre with metal detailing. The interchangeable panels can also be upholstered in fabric or leather.

“It was my belief that Split-Box would provide a multimedia solution for the superyacht industry,” explains Harvey. According to him, the Split-Box has already gathered up significant interest from yacht manufacturers, marine integrators and designers alike. Harvey is hoping to be at the Monaco Yacht Show 2012.
