In the world of design, sometimes less is more and one man who has kept this in mind when designing his latest collection is Peter Petersen, the young Danish designer behind the company Signalement. The Tank Collection is minimalistic, modern and stylish. Offering an uncompromising, consummate design idiom, Petersen's furniture is marked by contrasts that unite robustness with feminine lines.

The Tank Collection is comprised of several modern pieces including a desk, shelves and a wardrobe. According to Peterson, his designs are characterised by organic, almost sculptural forms in which beauty arises from simplicity. With this collection, Peterson gives practical household pieces a contemporary twist with each piece offering a real edge to its design. With the wardrobe for example, Peterson demonstrates that a wardrobe can be more than simply functional. It is a garment stand that is almost more of a sculpture, playing with the idea of space and depth. Similarly, the shelves combine functionality and imagination, allowing the piece to make a contribution to its surroundings. Peterson is not one to neglect the tiny details either. Touches like the striking yellow interiors of the desk’s drawers add a playful element to the simplicity.

Each piece in the Tank Collection is made from high quality MDF, which has been coated in more than ten layers of paint and finished with layers of a high gloss varnish. Painted as standard in a striking white but also made to order in punchy primary colours, the Tank Collection is currently being showcased at Design By in Paris.
