Van der Valk launches M/Y Jangada 2
The largest of the Raised Pilothouse custom-series line…
Dutch superyacht builder, Van der Valk, has launched 32m M/Y Jangada 2, the fifth and largest of the Raised Pilothouse custom-series line. Created for a repeat client with a specific wish list, Van der Valk collaborated with designers Nick Top and Guido de Groot to bring the bespoke elements imagined within the brief to fruition.
Optimising the space on board was a key part of the specification, for example, ensuring the VIP suite bathroom on the main deck could be closed off for use by guests during the day without entering the bedroom itself. The functional area under the pilothouse has also been optimised, adding to the crew accommodations and designing an even more spacious galley.
Jangada 2 features minimalistic interior styling that is based primarily on a whitewashed European oak. The flybridge deck has an outdoor dining area, a sunbathing space with loose sunbeds, an all-aluminium hardtop providing ample shade and a smart wet bar.
The main deck aft retains a sense of space with curved glass sliding doors to the lounge, and a VIP suite offering fine views. The full-beam owner’s stateroom is on the lower deck and includes large his & hers wardrobes and a dedicated office area. There are three other cabins sleeping seven adults and children, bringing the possible guest total to eleven.
Other custom wishes that have been met on Jangada 2 include a flybridge deck with outdoor helm station, al fresco dining, and a large storage space for tenders and toys, supported by an 800kg crane. In our upcoming issue of The Superyacht Tenders Report, we will be honing in on the upcoming trends and problems facing this market.
Constructing both steel and aluminium motoryachts since 1967, the other four motoryachts within Van der Valk’s Raised Pilothouse range include 27.21m M/Y The Next Episode, 24.99m M/Y Jangada, 26m M/Y Forum and the 26m M/Y Nicostasia, illustrating the choice provided by the range. At 32m, Jangada 2 is only the second Van der Valk vessel to be built above the 30m superyacht boundary, which perhaps signals Van der Valk intent to increasingly build within this size range.
Jangada 2 is now being put though her sea trial paces ahead of final delivery to the owners in June. The owners have agreed to share their new prized possession with the wider public as she makes her debut in the suitably glamorous surroundings of the Cannes Boat Show in September.
