Week in Superyacht Brokerage: 'Thirteen', 'Solutions' and 'Crili' sold
With three superyacht sales and a 2012 record-low of just four price reductions, the week dating 7- 13 February offered hope that the superyacht industry was firmly back on track.…
Superyacht Sales
The first sale of this week, and of February 2012, was Bradford Marine Yacht Sales' announcement of the sale of the 33.5m motoryacht Solutions. The 1994 Broward was a joint listing with Fraser Yachts, and had an asking price of $1.595 million.
Merle Wood & Associates announced the sale of the 40.2m Crili. The 1999 Trident motoryacht was asking $8.5 million.
The third superyacht to sell this week was Christensen’s Thirteen. Merle Wood (its second sale of the week) shared the listing of the 2006 motoryacht with International Yacht Collection, who had an asking price of $28.5 million. Not only did she have the largest asking price of the sales this week, but at an impressive 47.9m she was also the largest to sell.
New Central Agencies
Five new central agencies were announced this week, two of which were joint central listings – a type of listing that has been on the increase over recent months.
Merle Wood joined International Yacht Collection to handle the sale of the 56.03m motoryacht Four Aces. The largest yacht involved in brokerage activity this week, the 2005 Benetti is asking $36.9 million.
The second joint central agency to be announced this week was for 31m motoryacht Ninemia. Fraser Yachts joined Cape 4 Yachting for the sale of the 1995 Vitters who has an asking price of €3.25 million.
Fraser Yachts was also appointed central agent for the 49.8m Anedigmi. The 1993 Oceanco motoryacht is asking €13.5 million.
Price Reductions
This week saw a 2012-record of the lowest number of price reductions at just four, showing a significant forward movement within the industry.
Fraser Yachts boasted the most from one broker, reducing two of its motoryachts. Once Around, the 2003 29m Sunseeker, was reduced by $200,000 to $2.95 million, while the 2001 26.2m Tarrab Praise the Lord was reduced by €100,000 to €600,000.
The largest superyacht to be reduced this week, and reduced by the largest amount, was the 52.5m Blue Scorpion. Yachtzoo reduced the 2006 Baglietto motoryacht by a significant $2 million, and she is now asking $21.5 million.
Meanwhile, Bradford Marine Yacht Sales reduced the 30.48m motoryacht Joy Ride, a 1995 Mangusta, by $270,000 to $1.125 million.
With three yacht sales and just four price reductions, this week is by far the most promising to date in 2012. Finally, the superyacht industry is producing brokerage figures that suggest it is getting back on track.
