The Whaletone piano, designed by Robert Majkut, is a unique combination of original design and advanced technology, catering for the tastes of both design lovers and professional musicians. The ultimate expression of luxury, each model is a bespoke creation and a technical work of art.

According to Majkut, the idea for Whaletone’s design came from a dream in which he envisioned a grand piano that took on a new and unusual form. From this dream, the Whaletone was born, capturing the shape of what Majkut describes as a “whale emerging from the water”.

As each Whaletone is built by hand and only upon request, the personalisation options are almost limitless. Colour, gloss, materials and equipment configuration can all be adjusted to taste. Each unique piano is given an individual number and an engraved plaque with the name of the owner or a personal dedication.

This is not just a piece of musical eye candy though. The Whaletone is high-performance instrument as well, based on the flagship stage piano model from Roland, which has a built-in list of nearly 500 sounds. Using SuperNATURAL Piano technology, the piano demonstrates the high sound quality of a classic grand piano with some new technological enhancements. The comfortable PHA III Ivory Feel keyboard imitates the real hammering of a classic grand piano keyboard, offering all the subtleties of a classic. The Sound Focus function enables strengthening the expression and audibility of even subtle pianissimo passages. The sound is strengthened with a four-channel amplifier and is emitted from the loudspeakers, creating a precise, dynamic sound scene.

Additional bespoke options include a CD player, V piano card upgrades, sound modules, LED display and an internal sound processor with equaliser.

Available with a traditional, metallic or pearl lacquer glossed to a high shine or left matte, the Whaletone can also be specified in a range of colours, from classic black and white, to chocolate grey, blue, pink, violet or even orange. The upholstery inside the piano is made of high quality velour.

While the humidity levels and corrosive nature of the marine environment can be hard on pianos, plenty of superyachts have still featured them as a part of their interiors to great effect.
