What do World Oceans Week & TSDF have in common?
Workshops with the green light…
In under four weeks’ time, The Superyacht Design Forum will address a topic that has been made unavoidable by the likes of David Attenborough, the recent Extinction Rebellion, and initiatives such as the banning of plastic straws accompanied by horrifying underwater images of the consequences of humanity’s plastic usage.
Sustainability is a sensitive issue for any luxury industry, and at this year’s edition of The Superyacht Design Forum, we will address this topic in many of our sessions to provoke debate about what more our industry can be doing to safeguard our future.
Water Revolution Foundation is the first independent, international, science-driven, non-profit organisation started from within the superyacht industry that is taking the lead to neutralise its ecological footprint and preserve the world’s precious oceans.
In our session on Tuesday 25 June entitled, ‘Changing the design language in yachting’, Robert Van Tol, executive director of Water Revolution Foundation, will discuss the company’s tool to assess superyachts, and discuss how yachting can be better presented in terms of sustainability and efficiency.
Also taking place on day one of the event, delegates of The Superyacht Design Forum will be invited to travel in time as we introduce our session ‘Materials of the future’. Ivo Veldhuis, technical manager at Mayfair Marine, will be transporting us far beyond 2019, as we take a closer look at hydrogen and its prevalence within our industry.
Within our session, ‘Interior Subcontractors and Shipyards’, we will take a look at the relationship between designers, interior subcontractors and shipyards, and how this is key to the successful on-time and on budget delivery of projects, ensuring minimal materials as well as time is wasted.
For a further insight into the sessions we have scheduled for The Superyacht Design Forum, 25 to 26 June, Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour, please see the full programme here. Remaining tickets are available here.
