EL Crew Co to focus on recruiting sailing crew

Former Y.CO employee, Erica Lay has launched her own international superyacht crew agency, EL Crew Co. Lay will act as a facilitator between managers and owners’ representatives recruiting personnel and crewmembers seeking positions.

At the moment Lay is operating as an individual, which she says will allow her to offer a ‘personalised, boutique service.’ Speaking to The Crew Report, Lay said that she was welcoming new clients, whilst building on existing relationships with management companies.



Superyacht crew recruitment is a competitive industry, with plenty of existing offerings available. “It depends how good you are”, Lay said when asked about said competition. “I’ve already got quite a good client base, lots of crew and I specialise in sailing yachts, with other agencies tend not to focus on.” This she said, is because it is a tightly knit community that is self-serving to a degree.  “But having been in Palma for many years I’ve managed to build up quite a substantial base of crewmembers within the sailing community.”
Lay, who is based in Palma de Mallorca, identified the Spanish yachting hub as an ideal location, particularly with its strong refit reputation that ensures there are plenty of superyacht crewmembers in the vicinity throughout the off-season.
