Repairing the Refit Market

Ahead of The Superyacht Captains’ Forum next month, we ask the industry what their biggest frustrations are in the aftersales, repair & refit market…

On the 19 April, we will be hosting The Superyacht Captains’ Forum, a unique meeting held in Viareggio during the Yachting, Aftersales and Refit Experience (YARE) held from 18 – 21 April, which brings together captains and yacht managers, with shipyards, subcontractors and all key industry suppliers to explore, debate and discuss the world of refit, aftersales, repair and warranty.

The format will deliver a platform for all stake holders to share their perspectives and views on one of the most important sectors for the future. The fleet is growing and ageing and we need to consider whether the refit industry is organised, joined-up, strategic or efficient and whether the customers are getting what they need or expect. So, we want to create a workshop environment where all participants can openly discuss what they would like to do better or change for the future.

Therefore, in order to initiate this process, we want to invite captains, refit yards, sub-contractors, yacht managers, senior crew and suppliers to share their thoughts, by commenting on the refit sector and answering the broad topic of:

What are your biggest frustrations in the refit market and what would you like to see change?

Is it the tendering or estimating process or perhaps the fact that there are so many unrealistic expectations or unexpected problems?

Is it the lack of transparency or the inexperience of project teams or the clients lack of understanding in the project process?

Share your perspectives, experiences or concerns.

Even if you are unable to attend The Superyacht Captains' Forum, this is the opportunity to air your candid views with the moderators of these sessions, who will use these and other comments to drive the debate. A report on the various workshops and the proposed solutions and ideas to repair the refit market will be published on SuperyachtNews.com during and after the event.

To offer your input, please send your thoughts to feyi@thesuperyachtgroup.com and for more information on YARE and The Superyacht Captains’ Forum please click here

The Superyacht Captains' Forum will take place on Thursday 19 April.
