On Wednesday, September 25th 2024, Quantum Marine Stabilisers presented their latest innovation to a select crowd of journalists and industry experts at the 2024 Monaco Yacht Show. While Quantum has been at the forefront of hydraulic stabilisation for almost 40 years, the e-FIN adds another element in green technology to complement the recent launch of the F45 - electric/hydraulic hybrid power system.  The e-FIN puts Quantum back to its roots in the smaller, 40m+ market boat market.

Quantum CEO John Allen says “The e-FIN is unlike anything we have done before and anything the competition is doing in the electric stabiliser market. I am proud of the team in Holland and the US for coming together to create such a unique electric stabiliser solution.”

The e-FIN is a collaboration between 15 of Quantum’s in-house Hydrodynamics Engineers, Naval Architects, Control Engineers, Electrical Engineers, and Mechanical Engineers from the US and The Netherlands. After intense research, development, and testing, the unveiling at the Monaco Show marks its introduction to the marketplace.

The key advantages of the e-FIN:

In-house Custom Designed Reduction Gearbox

-the purpose-built gearbox is capable of handling up to 10 million cycles

Extremely Cost-Effective to Maintain

-expected to run up to 15,000 hours between service intervals

Quieter than a Traditional Hydraulic System

-due to fewer noise-generating components and the optimised gear design

Minimal Heat Dissipation

-no cooling is required due to the efficiency of the system

Power Smoothing

-energy storage system to reduce power fluctuations common to all stabiliser operations

EPU Designed to Meet Electrical Safety Requirements

-compliant with EEE45 rules, DNV, Lloyds and ABS and CE Certified

Easy connection to AC or DC Bus

-plug and play operation

All Aluminum Construction

-best weight to torque/power ratio

The e-FIN can be fitted or retrofitted into vessels in the 40m - 65m range and is available as an XT™ conversion.  With innovation woven into the culture, Quantum will continue to challenge the status quo, while ensuring the comfort and safety of passengers for generations to come.
