MIMO Connect announces the launch of the MIMO GO Case
The MIMO GO Case delivers satellite and cellular connectivity in one self-sufficient portable package…
Over the past five years we have regularly been reminded by clients how relying on one single data source is a risk not worth taking. Our world continues to place more and more importance on accessing reliable Internet connectivity everywhere. With more of our clients exploring remote destinations while demanding consistent reliable connection a new portable hardware solution was an obvious choice.
Putting cellular or satellite signal receivers in a portable solution is not new, putting both together is. Using our best in class signal aggregating modems, the latest portable satellite and cellular antenna are combined to deliver a stable balanced Internet connection.
With our clients visiting some of the harshest places on the planet our development team felt it was crucial to build a product that could survive and perform in most conditions. The MIMO GO Case shell is based on a rugged case with an impressive IP rating of 66. The internal components are protected against dust particles and high-pressure jets of water. During product testing our prototypes were sent far and wide even ending up in the Antarctic Circle where the case performed perfectly.
As well as being highly capable to withstand the most demanding environments our focus group wanted a solution that could work for a minimum of 12 hours independently. Our answer was to incorporate 6 x 5ah Milwaukee batteries in parallel that allow the MIMO GO Case to work using satellite and cellular combined for an impressive 19 hours between charges. When using Satellite only the MIMO GO Case will keep going for over 22 hours and when in Cellular-only mode the connection will last for up to 64 hours. As back up every MIMO GO Case is fitted with an IEC power 230/110v socket so when available the case can run on external power.
Externally the MIMO GO Case is fitted with a voltage meter so the user can monitor internal battery voltage ensuring there are no nasty ‘loss of power’ surprises while out exploring. Adjacent to the power meter are three fast charger ports (2 x USB-C and 1 x USB-B) allowing users to keep all their devices charged and connected.
Each MIMO GO Case comes with a Celerway Stratus dual 4G cellular router installed. The recommended LEO panel is supplied with built in WiFi capability which with the Celerway Stratus’ WiFi gives the MIMO GO Case options for diversity and best strength connections to external devices.
With the lithium power sources within the MIMO GO Case our engineering team opted to install two self-resetting 5 amp fuses and an IP 68 rated 100w 24v transformer optimising safety.
The MIMO GO Case router comes with both UK and US VPN breakout capabilities allowing connection and streaming content ‘like at home’. VPN subscription is an extra cost for customers, MIMO Connect offer very competitive VPN packages starting from £295 per annum.

Testimonial
AVIT officer on a 78-metre yacht: “Our overall experience with the MIMO GO Case has been fantastic. For remote locations like Antarctica, there’s simply no comparable product.”
Initial impressions
The MIMO GO Case left a remarkable first impression as a mobile case providing stable and healthy Internet in some of the world’s most remote areas – a concept that felt like “far future” technology just a few years ago. The reactions around me were filled with amazement, with many less technical individuals exclaiming, “Wow, is this real?”
Specific benefits
The MIMO GO Case demonstrated a great improvement in connectivity, especially in areas with zero GSM coverage, such as the remote regions where we tested it. Previously, VSAT was the only solution available, but VSAT lags behind LEO technology like the MIMO GO Case (which combines GSM with LEO in terms of both speed and latency).
Specific situations stand out, like enabling seamless communication and Internet access in areas with no prior infrastructure. MIMO GO excels in GSM-saturated areas or where GSM is entirely unavailable. It’s a groundbreaking solution that surpasses any alternative we’ve used.
Ease of use
Setting up and using the MIMO GO Case is as straightforward as flipping two switches, connecting to WiFi and starting your session. It’s wonderfully simple and user-friendly. A standout feature is the innovative design of using six or less applying some modifications 18VDC batteries in parallel to power the terminal - an ingenious and practical solution. Currently, we are using the MIMO GO Case in Antarctica, where its simplicity and reliability shine.
Performance
The MIMO GO Case has performed admirably, delivering Internet speeds typically ranging from 40–150 Mbps, which is excellent for such remote locations. It has revolutionised operations by enabling reliable communication for the crew messaging apps over radio comms and allowing guests to enjoy video calls, social media and news, even in the most isolated regions.
Unique features
The MIMO GO Case’s standout feature is its portability: a small, lightweight case that provides reliable Internet with just a few simple steps. For remote locations like Antarctica, there’s simply no comparable product. The ability to seamlessly switch between satellite and GSM Internet adds another layer of versatility, especially in areas where GSM often struggles. Additionally, the built-in battery level indicator and personal device charger unit on top of the case are exceptionally handy features.
Customer support
The customer support from MIMO Connect has been exemplary. They respond promptly through various communication channels, including messaging apps and email. Their professional assistance and dedication to resolving any issues or concerns truly go above and beyond, making the support experience outstanding.
Overall satisfaction
We are highly satisfied with the MIMO GO Case, and the feedback from both crew and guests has been overwhelmingly positive.
We would definitely recommend this product to others in the yachting industry, particularly for off-yacht operations like tender runs, excursions, and beach setups. It’s an invaluable tool in ensuring connectivity anywhere.
Impact on business
The MIMO GO Case has significantly impacted both operations and productivity. It allows us to provide Internet connectivity anytime, anywhere, and not “just on board, or in vicinity of the yacht” which is crucial for high-profile guests who need to stay connected to their tasks and businesses. Whether on an isolated island or deep in Antarctica, the MIMO GO Case ensures guests and crew remain online and productive.
Future use
We will undoubtedly continue using the MIMO GO Case, as it has proven indispensable for our operations.
